The Setup

Have Disc One of "The Wall" in the 'pause' mode, all set to start when you press 'play'.

On my video copy of "Pi", before the movie actually starts, there is a screen shot of the Artisan Films logo. You'll want to begin "The Wall" approximately 1 second after this logo fades out and disappears from the screen. Depending on your own copy (or users of the DVD), this may need to be adjusted. The most obvious clue that will let you know if you're on track is that the 'big crash of music' at the beginning of 'In The Flesh' coincides with the film's title coming onscreen (the symbol for Pi). Let the first disc play all the way through till the last word is sung on track 13..."goodbye"...then immediately pause the film,

switch to disc two, put it in the 'pause mode', and then unpause both film and music at the same time. The album will end shortly after the closing credits have begun.

The Source

I had the idea for this sync about a year before I ever tried it. I felt the struggles that the respective characters from both entities go through (Pink from The Wall, Max Cohen from Pi) paralelled each other. As it turned out, they did. There is some ebb and flow with the sync...some very high points, some boring points, but all in all it's a pretty nice alchemy.

The Evidence

No intent whatsoever. Purely a subjective experience.
