Stargate - The Ark Of Meddle
Submitted by Loonwolf on Tue, 2008-04-29 18:51. Share Your SynchsThe film 'Stargate - The Ark Of Truth' synchronises with the Pink Floyd album 'Meddle'. The album plays through twice and ends for a second time at the exact same time the film ends.
This was pretty excellent throughout. It isn't as constant as others, indeed I've seen more excellent synchronicities with this album, but it is still quite awesome. And of course I've only seen it once, they usually get better with more watches.
The song 'Echoes' begins for the first time as the space scenes start, and they go through hyperspace like the last scene in the film '2001: A Space Odyssey' which also synchronises with the song. It would have been wonderful if this scene had continued for at least another 5 minutes through the best part of the song, but I guess that wouldn't have worked so well for the film.
That was my only real complaint about it, both times the song 'Echoes' plays, the most awesome part doesn't have awesome images matching up with it, although it still works very well as it is. But apart from that it is a very enjoyable synchronicity throughout.
Stargate SG1 the TV show is the only TV show I've tried so far that has failed to synchronise with any album I've tried - even when there have been quite clear clues which normally work out. For example there's an episode called '2001' which would be an obvious choice for 'Meddle', but no. Or there's an episode where a guy has a terrified expression on his face as he's trying to run away from a black hole in the sky, at the same time the lyric
"Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky"
is sung on the Pink Floyd album 'Wish You Were Here'. But apart from that and other minor parts the rest DOESN'T synchronise.
Although the TV show often has lots of scenes of just people sitting around talking, which never synchronises well. This film has less of that and more action scenes though.
I particularly enjoyed the scene where Teal'c is climbing the hill during the song 'Fearless', also about climbing a hill.
Overall I'd highly recommend it, especially to fans of the album and the TV show/film.
