Hello! I first visited the Synchronicity Arkive on the World Wide Web in 1998 after a short blurb was posted about it in our local newspaper. I wanted to try the "Dark Side of Oz" pairing Pick Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" with the movie "The Wizard of Oz". I had first heard about this urban legend in 1981 or so from some Pink Floyd fans. They fantastically claimed that all Pink Floyd's music was meant to be sound tracks to certain movies like "Wizard of Oz", "Fantasia" and some other movies, hence the weird sounds. Our good synch friend Simon first heard of "Dark Side of Oz" in 1976.

I enjoy watching other people's synch ideas because you do all the hard work matching and then I just show up to watch. Every synch is full of surprises! I am fascinated by this idea of matching movies to supposedly unrelated music. What a weird coincidence! I became hooked when I witnessed Pink Floyd's "Echoes" with paired with JABTI (2001's Jupiter and Beyond the Infinite) and though how bad and awful it was (Sorry, this is subjective. Everybody has already gotten mad at me for this.). I thought I could do better. But now I know it's not so easy!

I prefer the physics term "Simultaneity" (simo) where to events happen at the same time. Carl Jung came up with the psyche interpretation of "Synchronicity" (synch/sync) as a description of perception in psychology. Gestalt Theory tries to describe how our brains try to piece together a multitude of perceived events into a subjective idea.

Many thanks to Arkiver for resurrecting the Synchronicity Arkive. And I am thankful for all you other synchers who created other great websites, especially Baker for his synch web sites. It's much of work to maintain.

Wishing you all the best of luck and happy hunting!

My name's Dave. Back to the site after a long time. What a revamp! Very nice job Arkiver!

Been away from Synching for a long time. Got married, kid, moved overseas. Been looking at revisiting some old stuff, get things updated and reconnect.

Updated my old website a bit for a Synch I came across.

After hearing about the Dark Side of Oz synch in 1997. I fell in love with it. I remember as a kid watching cartoons with the audio off and music going tripping on how some music would match up with the video. It kind of took me back. So after playing the original a few times, and played Pink Floyd again for the second half, again, we wanted to try something else. Prodigy's The Fat of the Land just came out that same year so we tried that for kicks. It matched up pretty good in its own way. Tried to tell some other people about it but y'know, for those who don't get what a synch is, it's difficult to get it across, especially when I battled social anxiety back then. So I built a site and pretty much let it stand, with an update here and there. Stoopid OCD.

So, cool your site is back up. I peep the vids you have on you tube and post in another thread for the archive. =)

Welcome back, Dave! Glad to see a visitor from the Arkive's storied history. ;)

If you've got any ideas for the Arkive, or anything you'd like to see in particular, feel free to give me a shout.

Hi everyone and it's good to be back... I too was an early member in the original Sync Arkive 1998+ (aka fEaRnOaRt)! Thru this group I discovered the intricacies of the synchronistic practices and how they can filter down to even smaller, less obvious events! I've progressed non-stop since these discoveries, started a music/video sync studio and I have now produced concert sized events in the SF Bay area Cali featuring my personal variations on the DSOTR theme. ie, now The 8th Annual "Dark Side of Oz" @ The Mystic Theatre & Zodiacs in Petaluma Ca. 2006 -2014 (Aug 15th)

There is a radical difference between the traditional hand synced 1995 version of "The Dark Side of The Rainbow" and my highly edited 2014 "The Dark Side of Oz". The difference lies in the fact that, unlike the original DSOTR version my DSOOZ includes all of the dialog and special effects from the film embedded into the complete audio scores of Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of The Moon"and are available for viewing only at my yearly live class screenings!

I've missed the conversation and continuity of the Arkive and whole heartedly welcome it back! A big thank you to Mike Johnson / Arkiver for diggin in again with us! Carl Tune I see you too! I look forward to many conversations and discoveries once again! My path has not veered and I have built a strong foundation from what we started... my FB PAGES "Viral Media Art" and my "Dark Side of Oz" are enjoyed and viewed around the world... all are available on my web page @ Viral Media Art. I have also added a link to the new Synchronistic Arkive site and history connection to my home web page to help spread the word! In these days of facebook & youtube I will pop up more often there than the blog here, but I look forward to hearing from you all!

You are welcome to post or comment. We like discussion threads with a diversity of thoughts and opinions and prefer to take a light hand at forum moderation. Your post/comment is more likely to be edited, moderated or deleted if it contains phobic content (based on race, sex, sexual orientation, nationality, religion, etc), is a personal attack or threat toward another user, is entirely unrelated to the entry topic, has such poor grammar and spelling that it annoys us, is an obvious piece of trollage, or if we find it or you obnoxious and decide everyone has had enough. Welcome to the new Synchronicity Arkive. This is one of the oldest website communities devoted to the mashing up of audio and video. Originally the community called that "audio/visual synchronicity". In 1997, one of our favorites, the match between the movie The Wizard Of Oz and Pink Floyd's seminal album Dark Side Of The Moon, went viral. And that kickstarted our little community. Now, after a long absence, the Arkive is back online and ready to serve that community again.
