Have a synchronicity site? (Sticky Post)

Community Stories

Updated: February 5th, 2007
Note: this is a sticky post, and will stay at the top of the page. Newer posts are underneath...

Starting this story thread, mainly to try and collect comments, about other synchronicity sites on the web. Part of the fun of the synching community has always been throwing up a site of your own and sharing your creations. Over the years, a number of sites have grown up, faded away, or even stuck around.

I know about a couple, so those are listed here (click READ MORE to see the rest of this article)...

Have one to add? Post a comment here, or send me a message via the site.

Also, if you'd like to link to this site, the Arkive banner (480X60, in GIF format) can be found at http://www.synchronicityarkive.com/images/sbanner.GIF. Here's what it looks like:

This is my discoveries thus far

Pink Floyd music & movie Synchs

The Division Bell goes with Eraser Head, Planet of the Apes, and Logan’s Run.
The Final Cute goes with Star Wars ep3 add Tigers broke free as track 4
The Dark Side of The Moon goes with the Wizard of Oz
Echoes the Best of Pink Floyd 2001 goes with E.T. the Extra Terrestrial.
A Momentary Lapse of Reason goes with David Lynch’s Dune 1984
The Wall goes with Triumph of the will.

Revenge of the Sith Synced with Pink Floyd’s the Final Cut Album

I have watched Revenge of the Sith with Pink Floyd’s The Final Cut and it’s like the two were made for one another.
I should clarify that the ROTS sync works best with the older Final Cut CD and then add the 2001 Tigers broke free from Echoes The Best Of Pink Floyd as track 4.

My thought is that if Lucas had the older Final Cut cd and heard about the Tigers as track 4 then he just put it into his copulation and then edited each chapter to the songs he was hearing, also you would have to be a big fan of Pink Floyd to fix the older CD of The Final Cut and use that to the ROTS. I start it right at the Fox logo before the Lucasfilm logo comes on, the zooming sound in the cd links up to the shifting of logos.

With Lucas I believe that all his Star Wars movies can sync up to some album, given the man he is and the things he has hinted at in the past. In Lucas’s case I think he syncs music with the movies he makes, like Pink Floyd dose with the Movies. To have a sound track that is for the public and another that tells the move from an even more personal level. To say this movie is a good sync is an understatement, as the two go hand in hand. There is also an, ow no on the Song Two suns in the sunset that sounds like C3PO’s ow no at the end of ROTS. The name of the song as well gives a hint.

On a last note I was lessoning to the Final Cut, it’s an awesome Anti war Album and it had Revenge of the Sith feel all over it. I also knew that a bonus track was added to the new Albums re-mastering a track 4 and given that Dune 1984 goes with Pink Floyd's A momentary lapse of reason then yeah I did it and Booooom. You will see. just get the older CD with out When the Tigers Broke free and add the longer version of that song from Echose the best of, it’s a longer version then the others of that track it’s a well hidden Sync but one Lucas did do as when you see it well be like what the hell.

I do not know even if the Actors know of this, I do think that Pink Floyd dose as they do the same stuff but just lie and say no we don't to keep the lawyers out of stuff. And I think John Williams is a big fan and they all were thinking Final CUT. It came out in 1983 and had the same themes as ROTS and I think Lucas thought about the ROTS movie after he did Jedi and was lessoning to this Album.

It was a long thought out thing for him in the editing room an esoteric sound track hidden with a track from a beast of Pink Floyd Echoes CD that came out in 2001 and then they added it in 2004 in a release of the Album but it works best to those who have the older CD and use the best of Tigers as track 4. A wink to the computer age we live in.

How is this all done in the engineering? It would have to take in my mind cutting the move into 3 parts beginning middle and end. Then edit a clip to the times that a song changes or says something that goes with a theme of the movie or that something happens in the movie. This is easier with the tracks that pink Floyd use and many old LP artists did and now with computers.

On Pink Floyd intent: Nah,

On Pink Floyd intent: Nah, this is all "alien" doings. Mind you, we may be the aliens though.

Anything to do with "Amazon" by chance?

My Syncs

I just started a special Facebook group on how there are more syncs than just Dark Side of Oz. If I could just copy and paste my Facebook statements down in this archive for the rest to read, that would be great.

join?

Hi, i might be interested in joining that group, as might some others on here. also, what synchs do you have?

My Synch Site: http://leightonjonesy.googlepages.com

Howdy! And, How do I ... ?

Ok I came across this site years ago and just got redirected here from a reference in another forum.

I have several strange reasons for being interested the type of multimedia synchronicity exploration this community has been doing. But I'd rather carry on this discussion in the forum on this site if I can figure out how to do that - I've got a user name but it says I can't make a post in the forums.

Anyway, I have an experimental and experiential interest in A/V Synchros. Experimental in that I am interested in the science of people experiencing the sense of meaningful coincidence from a parapsychological perspective while also having experimented with created my own synchro videos. I've barely begun posting videos to google and youtube so will provide links later. Experientially speaking, I really enjoy exploring possible audio/visual synchs. I think many people have had the experience of a tv tuned into a movie or tv channel with the sound off but while playing some other audio via Compact Disc, etc. and the occasional seemingly personally significant synching of inner and outer psyches, a la Carl Jung's idea of Synchronicity.

Oh! And I'm a huge Pink Floyd fan and ...

... I'm interested in how personal experiences of synchros in media surrounding corruption, conspiracy and criminal activity can be data-mined for crime solving and justice.

I recently created my own wiki/forum for such weird pursuits:
www.CollectiveDetective.net

Plus I have a whole bunch of other sites accessible via my main Portal to Possible Paradigms, the ELFIS NETWORK at www.ELFIS.net

Anway ... which way to the forums!

Correction

Correction ... the site I setup is here:

http://www.DetectiveCollective.org

It'll probably be a long while before I manage to do anything with it.

And thanks for the warm welcomes and info Baker and Arkiver.

I look forward to listening to more of the podcasts and I should get at least one of my own synchro vids up this weekend.

www.AnomalyRadio.com

Finally uploaded a couple of my synch vids

Nothing too significant. Just fun mashups for me:

Who Shot Roger Rabbit with a Rubber Bullet - mashup

Synchronicity experiment synching whatever's on TV with whatever music I feel like. Who Framed Roger Rabbit vs "Rubber Bullet"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0k9I89TH5RY

Extremis Communion - Abducted by Techno

Christopher Walken as Whitley Strieber, has Close Hypnotic Encounter with Gillian Anderson's "Future : A Journey Through The Electronic Underground."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJz62EB-QB0

different at least!

http://www.collectivedetective.net/

Nothing there yet, but the basic interest in "...how personal experiences of synchros in media surrounding corruption, conspiracy and criminal activity can be data-mined for crime solving and justice..." sounds, well, *different* at least.

To me, synchroncities are more about uplifting as a whole. It could involve some similar techniques, though.

So now I'm checking out elfis.net...

Looks like lots of stuff there. Very interesting.

Feel free to write me at edwardston@yahoo.com if you wish; I've been involved with this hobby for over 10 years now. To bone up on the history of a/v synching, I'd recommend looking over the six Podcasts so far. Mine is the 3rd. There are also boards, etc., that have been created outside the Sync Ark... all you see here is not all there is.

And I'd advise that while the single cue synchronicities will always form the base for our hobby, there is much more to explore, as all of these Podcast volunteers talk about at times. It's not *just* about slamming together one movie and one album anymore. Hasn't been for a long time. But everything, to me, still revolves around "cued regions". That's the undividable atom still for synchronicity explorations stemming from Dark Side of the Rainbow/2001-Echoes. And those are, then, the "windows" that other information from the "outside", if you believe in that stuff, can be found. That's the non-manipulated part... the cue here represents the single degree of manipulation, whether it comes at the beginning, end, or somewhere in-between.

As a synch, if you will, I know of another syncher I'm studying now that has used the codeword "Blue Rose" to describe deeper meaning within multi-tiled synchronicities.

Good luck... I'll bookmark your elfis site and study further when I get a chance. Nice work. I'll email you if I come across anything that I resonate with in a strong way.

I've half listened to a couple of interviews concerning the mysterious suicides of Theresa Duncan and Jeremy Blake this past summer, a couple of days apart, and am really intriguted, esp the connections with args. and all the supposed synchronicities/clues.

Blake's work based on the Winchester House in SF is very captivating in story and image.

http://www.artificial.dk/articles/jeremyblake.htm

I haven't checked out Duncan's work yet.

And, synchily, I have Punch Drunk Love (famously connected with Blake's art) currently rented and waiting to be viewed!

comments vs. postings...

So, the reason you can't post to the forums per se, is the difference between a comment (like what you posted here) and an actual posting. Main articles and the root post that makes up a forum thread are "higher level" content, that only trust members can post. Comments can be posted by any account on the Arkive though, but they do require approval. I've been moving accounts over to trusted once they have at least one valid comment posting.

I realize that's very very strict... unfortunately those are the lengths I've had to go to, in order to cut down on spam and crud and just general abusiveness. I'd prefer to trust people by default... but that didn't work out so well. The best I can do is once someone posts a valid comment (like this one), is to move them over to trusted.

We probably miss out on some participation from folks who'd prefer to remain a little more anonymous... but the vast majority of such posts (99.999999% in my experience) don't add anything, and take the focus away from the kinds of participation that the majority of the community is here for.... hence the decision to go this route.

peace,

Be forewarned...the site is poorly made and my synchs not well-received by (m)any in the synch community. They have, however, been proven to produce feelings of joy and wonder in those familiar enough with the artist and films involved to give them a try. I have failed in my attempts to gain the knowledge necessary to create shareable copies of these synchs. I have some profound synchs that I would like to submit to for consideration (I'm looking in your direction Kubrick/Floyd), but until I have the know-how they will sit...unwatched.

just added your link

I just added your link to my sync links page here. Private message me and I'll tell you from A-Z how to get your syncs in a veiwable format.

It's just that the members here (including me I guess) are a little jaded. We're pretty much just sharing with the rest of the world. I do get emails and plenty of sales so there are people reading. Keep at it...

BTW, you're not set to receive private messages.

Synchs mentioned on radio...

I havent heard much "synch talk" on the radio as of late. There is an episode of The Trailer Park boys where Bubbles mentions DSotR recently. I believe this is the tail end of a radio broadcast where The DeVille's synchs are mentioned. Strange that the programs main focus is the paranormal. BOO!

Trailer Park Boys rocks!
Conky is one of the funniest tv episodes ever.

I think this is the book

I think this is the book they mention by R. Gary Patterson, JD. He also wrote a book on the "Paul is Dead" myth.

jaded

Thanks for the heads-up. I forgot I had turned of my private messaging back when I was being harassed by some maniac around here. Since then I have moved to a new state, got a new job, and really haven't had time to keep up with happenings around the arkive.

I would be most greatful for the A-Z you mentioned in your post. I have had other members tell me that they could help, but only words...no action. My intent is merely to be able to produce hard copies/online viewables to share wih friends, family and whoever is interested. I don't care to make money from these synchs, only to make it easier for others to experience them.

My tastes are a bit different than the average syncher in that I don't care to produce the next great Floyd or Oz synch. I am happy to go out and buy music that I am unfamiliar with to experience a really cool sounding synch, but I realize that most people wouldn't go out and buy a $30 double cd by a band they have never heard of to experience of of mine. Not to mention the fact that the cd in question is hard-to-find and would require some work to get.

I appreciate the link! I am off to take a closer look at your site now. Thanks again, in advance, for any help you may offer.

Actually...

If I recall correctly Loony Ruins, didnt several people direct you to lyncs that gave info on transfering synchs to dvd? I recall seeing that.

looney runes's picture

yes

I followed up on those links. Sadly, I hit stumbling blocks on both of the links. I followed along and thought I was making good progress, but when I hit a spot where things weren't happening as outlined in the links I was unable to get feedback from the original posters of the help. One was referencing software which had moved from freeware to expensive. I wouldn't mind buying software to accomplish what I'm trying to do, but only on the word of someone who has used it for my purpose. Some of the advice I got was from people doing *similiar* but not the same thng, so the tutorial helped me up to a point. I still appreciated those who tried to help, and I invested many hours following their advice, but in the end I was unable to accomplish my goal. I was not trying to sound critical of anyone. Sorry if it came off that way. don't shoot-i am a man

Yeay!

Scky-Goo,

I am glad to witness your web site again!

From my somebody else's computer, the words scroll over the background, but from my computer, the words are locked with the background so the whole page moves. The former gives a wonderfull 3-D effect.

By the way, your Led Zepplin Synch is empty. The link leads to nowhere.

Visual Synchronicity/Indeterminacy

I've had a link to your site for quite some time now. My Weblog is entitled "The Synchronicity of Indeterminacy" with the purpose of combining found photos with one-minute short stories inspired by the photos. The idea is based on John Cage's Indeterminacy recordings, coupling stories with sound. The site has been up since August 2004 and to date there are 336 stories. Please add me to your links if you think this is related enough to be of interest.
