The Setup

Use the Platinum Series DVD of "Dark City".

The album is a double disc set. Try to have disc 2 ready to play next. If you have to manually start it, let about 5 seconds lapse between discs while movie still plays.

Start Movie and once screen turns black and about the same time or a second or two after the voice sais "First", hit play on disc 1. Keep volume of movie up during this narration and then fade it off when the voice stops. I do this a few times throughout the movie but here is where it is important to me.

Let movie run while disc 2 loads. Let disc 2 end. Movie has about 5-10 minutes left after the album ends so just watch it through with volume on or off.

I will try to get more specifics here but the synch works well even with some alterations. I will try to compile more setup info.

This synch is cool

This is one of my favorites. It feels like the soundtrack this movie should have had to start with. I found that this synch is much better if you start the second cd NOT immediately following the first, but when John Murdock smashes the window of the building called "Neptune's Kingodm"(~50m:20s). Also, set the second disc on repeat. The action scenes match much better and the end works wonderfully. I tried this originally because one of the parts of the first song on cd 2 is called "broken windows, locks of love."

*edit: now with more info

Hmmmmmm

I rented this VHS movie (they did not carry the "Platnum series DVD") and borrowed the music from a neighbor's kid.

Because I used the wrong movie version, I did not experience the same as SirPineal. I also first heard the music as I was synching so I had no preconceptions.

This is two music disc synch, but there are only two tracks on each disk . So expect to wacth the entire synch in one setting becuase you cannot pick up where you left off. Also, I liken the music to turning on a tape recorder on the floor of your car and just recording the hum of the car, for two CD's. The music just ambiently hums and hums and hums. I do not get it. Because i do not like the music, I subjectively do not like this synch. The was some matching going on towards the end, but by then, the ambient humming had driven me insane. Hmmmmmm Hmmmmmm Hmmmmmm Hmmmmmm Hmmmmmm
