Questions - 1st Draft?
NOTE: I think I've set this thread so that anyone can edit it... so have at it.
From an original board thread, way back):
Q: Who came up with the bright idea of matching music to movies?
Was it William S. Burroughs or were there more founders of music/movie synchronicity?
Q: I tried a synch but it did not match up for me.
There might be a number of possible reasons.
1. Different versions (time lengths) of same music and movies floating around.
2. Not all DVD, VCR, and CD players have the same speed of play.
3. Sometimes synchs have a deep personal meaning. The connections one person makes are not the connections another person makes. This is based on subjective memories.
4. You started it in the wrong place, go back and read the directions.
#2: Not all DVD, VCR, and CD players have the same speed of play as other DVD, VCR, and CD players. That is why it helps to post cue points of matching.
Q: Why doesn't anybody try my synch?
A: The more popular the music and movie are, the more likely it is that somebody will try it.
Q: Publius Enigma
A: Eclipsed Moon and others have provided this link (http://folk.uio.no/ericsp/floyd.html).
Q: The first thing that threw me was "Intent". I honestly didn't know what that meant- 'by who? me?'haha. Seems so silly in hindsight, but it will help other newcomer zen-synchers like myself to understand from the get-go the scope of synching as a whole.
Q: "No one seems to like/get my synch- am I some kind of demented deviant?"
A: "Yes, but fret not, there are others like you. Taste varies greatly and even for synchs which seem incomprehensible there is an audience, somewhere, hiding between the cracks of decent society."
or a slight variation of that depending on the sense of humor of said deviants or how serious the FAQ section should be:
Q: "No one seems to watch/get/like my synch-what gives?"
Q: "Any suggestions or guidelines on what I should try synching?"
Q: "Is it kosher to discuss non-music/film aspects of synchronicity on the forum board?"
(I've thought about bringing up other aspects of synchronicity unrelated to music or film, but I don't want to undermine this particular board's purpose if it is intended for music and movie discussion)
Q: Does it make sense to include a section which briefly covers the different theories as to why film/album synchs occur? Or would this go under a Glossary of Terms heading, giving certain more common theories titles?
