producing a synch

Technical Discussion

Can someone direct me to a software title that will allow me to put a synch on a disc, so that all you have to do is pop it into a player and watch?

synch production advice

I got some really detailed advice about this subject online. You can read the post here...

good reply...

Some good info in that posting... I think it's not too dissimilar from what I'm using, just somewhat different products. Although I have yet to play around a whole lot with actually synching using these products, I have done quite a bit of digitizing and playing with segments...

A while back, I made up a DVD of all of my student films from college... the DVD just beats the VHS all to hell. Smiling

various methods...

I would say there really isn't an "all in one" program for synching that way, at least not one that I know of. However, I'd imagine you could break down the process like this:

    1. Rip the movie from DVD or otherwise digitize it into a video file (via a capture card or some other method).
    2. Demux that video file (i.e. split the audio and video into 2 separate files).
    3. Rip the music you want to put with it into a single file.
    4. Mux the video file from step 2 with the audio file from step 3, or if they're not right at the correct starting point, use a video editing program to pair the two at the correct spot. Some of the video programs are fairly advanced, but I can't say that I've done this part a lot.
    5. Take your finalized file from step 4 and plug it into some DVD authoring software.
    6. Watch your completed disc on your DVD player.

A very good resource for finding programs to help with these steps would be www.vcdhelp.com. I do a lot of video editing myself, but most of what I'm doing is editing video files from my DVR, burning them for archiving. Some of the steps match up. I've found Pegasys Software (makers of TMPGEnc) have some nifty programs, their DVD Authoring suite even includes an option AC-3 sound codec.

Hope that helps...
