The Starship Trooper.

Mood:
Energetic Headbangerism
Approx. Running Time:
2.5 hours

Ingredients

  • Starship Troopers DVD
  • Piece of Mind CD by Iron Maiden
Setup Instructions
Take a trip on this galactic Iron Maiden experience. I found this to be a surprise at first but as soon as i started to watch this i realized that i stumbled upon a masterpiece. The CD is full of War related songs and i didnt notice it until i started watching it. The reason why i picked this CD was because of the 5th track "The Trooper". Surprisingly this was really good much better than most of the synchs ive watched (maybe better than DSotM).

Put in your copy of Starship Troopers and press play on your cd player three seconds into the film before the Tristar logo pops up and enjoy.

I would create a big list of rainbow connections but i dont have the time to do so. But here are a few from the first song:

Where eagles dare:

The name of the track is "where eagles dare" and there are lots of flags with eagles on them.

later in the song gun shots synch with the movies gun shots.

energetic headbangerism

After 3 identical private messages (enough already!)I have gone to youtube and given this synch a look-see. I would say that this seems, to me, an instance where I simply can't tolerate the singer's voice long enough to appreciate this effort.
The instruments are played well, and alot of the action does seem to go well with the music, but I personally would have to really pay very close attention to the music (probably reading the lyrics as well) to really get into it and that really distracts from simply sitting back and enjoying. That said, I would likely recommend this synch to someone who likes this style of music. Perhaps a metal fan would be more able to review this synch. As the recipe states, the mood is "energetic headbangerism".

I certainly can't discredit the "rainbow connections", as gWIZ has done a god job of writing out a thoughtful, descriptive recipe (aside from mistakenly calling the film "stormship troopers")...my dislike for the music just seems to dull the entertainment value of the overall synch. Ultimately, I ended up reviewing this one, not because I would have read the recipe and thought 'wow, I love maiden and starship troopers, I gotta try this', but because I was harrassed with private messages until I broke down and watched it. I understand the frustration involved when it seems no one is trying out your favorite new synch, but one must simply be patient. Finding the right audience for your synch is just as important as it's discovery.

As an aside, I would like to state that this type of review, while giving your honest opinion about someone's synch, is very difficult to write...probably more so than a positive one. I have recieved a couple of similiar reviews here on the Arkive, where it seemed like the viewer simply was turned off by the music just enough that it sort of ruined the whole experience for them. I was very happy that folks took the time out of their busy lives to watch and review my discoveries, yet still a bit confounded that anyone would not 'get it'. Of course, this was totally naive of me to think that everyone who watches my synchs will come around to liking the same things as I.

Personal taste plays a large factor when it comes to watching and reviewing synchs, and it is important to keep this in mind when receiving negative/bad reviews, as well as writing them.

quick edit...

just fyi, made a quick edit to this one to make it a link... and also as an FYI, in case you copy a link from the Arkive, you don't need the "session info" (which is something like ?PHPSessionID or some string like that), you can just chop that. Shortens the URL a bit.

peace,
