As from the first flash of

As from the first flash of the Jupiter title to the first flash of Stanley Kubrick's director title are 23:26 and the track is 23:28 (at least as reported by my system) I would agree ... the sync will run a couple/few seconds into the credits.

If Pink Floyd wanted to match this up exactly they would have. Which means I don't put much stock in the credibility of the title to title theory.

Same

My CD copy of Meddle is the same as yours with the same tracks lengths listed. It doesn't appear to add up correctly, however most CDs seem to add a few seconds in between some of the tracks, ie. it stays at time 0:00 for a couple of seconds.

But synchronicities with Meddle always line up perfectly when the album repeats, whether I set the album to repeat play or pause video at the exact moment the album ends it is always exactly the same length.

Another thing I've noticed with the last song of Meddle synchronised with the last scene of 2001:A Space Odyssey is versions of this on the internet are NOT correctly lined up. I checked and they are 15 seconds out of synchronisation - this obviously makes a big difference. I've tried this myself several times and it always works perfectly. People say the song ends at the exact moment the film ends, but whenever I've tried it the song ends shortly after the end credits start.

When it is correctly lined up the major changes in the music happen at the EXACT SAME TIME as the major changes in the images, it is nowhere near as good if this doesn't happen - also the images match up much better with the music when it is lined up properly.

my version...

Can't speak for what's on the net, but when I was doing this synch regularly, it always went a couple seconds out into the credits, after "scary baby" stared at the screen....

Provided you get the ping at the beginning just right...

I gotta agree with you LW on this one... it does work much better, at the exact same time, when lined up correctly.

but the bits on the internet aren't bad, and at least they give the "uninitiated" a taste of what it's like.

I did my own version way back on some old video editing equipment at my old high school, and even added back in the audio mix with the glass breaking during "the last supper" bit. good stuff....

That's so funny (on me). I

That's so funny (on me). I had no idea that was a real movie title. LOL. I thought that the 'Ark Of Truth' was just the name of your sync title. Silly me.

As for Meddle, the times on my ipod are listed first, then the times actually listed on the actual CD:

One Of These Days 0:05:58 5:57
A Pillow of Winds 0:05:07 5:07
Fearless 0:06:04 6:05
San Tropez 0:03:40 3:40
Seamus 0:02:12 2:13
Echoes 0:23:28 23:31

So, my timing is four seconds less than the 'official' time written on the CD itself.
If I play the CD through, my player lists the TOTAL time of 46:46. As the individual times of the tracks match what I have on my ipod, the player is showing phantom time, that is UNEXPLAINED by the length of the individual tracks.

So, if you got your album total number off a player like mine, that could come close to explaining your total.

Or I have a problem with my CD.

My CD (not the cover) but the actual CD is blue with ripples like water in a well, with the times listed to each track.

Is this the same as yours?

NOT Stargate

The film I am talking about is NOT 'Stargate', but rather 'Stargate - The Ark Of Truth'. This is the first 'Stargate SG1' feature film.

And my copy of Meddle is 46 minutes and 54 seconds long, strange!

Loonwolf,

Loonwolf,

You must be thinking of a different film. Stargate (original theatrical version clocks in around 1 hour 54 minutes not counting the credits. The Director's cut is around 2 hours 3:22.

Meddle is a little longer than 45 minutes (46:29) so about 1 hour 33 minutes.

dont have that album...

Interesting ideas there but im afraid i dont have that album.

Indiana Jones Tomb Meddler?

I haven't tried this but I've got an idea about something that might work.

The film 'Lara Croft Tomb Raider' synchronises with the Pink Floyd album 'Meddle', which repeats. This is EXCELLENT as well by the way!

The film 'Stargate - The Ark Of Truth' also synchronises with the album 'Meddle', again repeating (in fact the film is exactly twice as long as the album, so it plays twice). This is also quite excellent. There are similarities with the film 'Raiders Of The Lost Ark' too. I almost thought I was watching that film at the end when Dr. Jones, er I mean Dr. Jackson is complaining about the awesome power of the Ark, and is not satisfied it's now in the hands of the government. I almost expected the General to say,
"Top men, Dr. Jackson, TOP MEN!" Smiling

So this album 'Meddle' by Pink Floyd would also be an obvious choice for an Indiana Jones film, particularly the first, 'Raiders Of The Lost Ark'.

I actually came to this subject trying to find a synchronicity for the Indiana Jones film myself, as due to the similarities between the films I figured whatever albums synchronise with Raiders Of The Lost Ark may also synchronise with Stargate - The Ark Of Truth. But it turned out the other way around. Smiling

If you have that album let us know if it works out.
