Setup Instructions
Very good class. You have drawn beautiful pictures of your summer vacation. I would like you each to stand in front of the class and tell us about your picture.

We have Trish's picture of Disney World. Trish gets up and walks to the front of the class. She has pretty bows in her hair. She explains how Disney World if full of family fun. See all the smiles, butterflies, and rainbows.

Next is Mike's pictures of the beach. Mike shuffles up front and explains how fun it was to bond with his Dad while fishing. See the picture of the two people fishing.

Next is…well… Karl's? Now maybe Karl can explain his picture, Ey? Karl walks up front looking a little wild eyed. Karl starts to describe his picture. "These are ..."

The teacher interrupts, "Those triangle buildings, those pyramids! Did you go to Egypt?"

Karl shakes his head, "No".

The Teacher continues, "Those people walking around the pyramids look like blue cartoon characters! Did you go to 'Toonworld' for vacation?"

Again Karl shakes his head, "No."

The Teacher continues, "And what about those flying objects? Your planes do not have any wings and there are purple bug eyed people looking out the windows? You went to Cape Canaveral this summer didn't you?"

Again Karl shakes his head, "No."

The befuddled teacher continues, "And what about that car being towed in the air by one of the rockets! Is that your family in the flying station wagon?"

Finally, Karl says, "Yes!"

The perplexed teacher continues, "And what about those giants on the hills?"

At last Karl gets to speak, "Oh... those! They are not giants. They are geoglyphs. During the summer solstice, ey, they depict Vangelis' 1984 'Soil Festivities' starting 7 minutes and 1 second after you see the spaceship following the intermission in Kubrick's, '2001: A Space Odyssey'. I call it 'Solstice Festivities'."

The red faced teacher states, "Karl, you did not complete the assignment as instructed. This is not your 'summer vacation'. You drew some alien invasion. Go stand in the corner with the dunce cap. I can see this is going to be a long school year."

Later at lunch, the other children taunt Karl. "Look out spaceboy! Here comes another UFO!" as they throw an empty milk carton at his head.

This really happened. The sychronicity forum brought back repressed memories from Karl's elementary school days.
Additional Notes
Some Unidentified Flying Objects were seen and recovered in Roswell, New Mexico, USA in early July 1947. There were some accounts of "Test Dummies" being recovered from a crashed "Weather Balloon" made of strange material.
