Solstice FestivitiesKarl TuneSome Unidentified Flying Objects were seen and recovered in Roswell, New Mexico, USA in early July 1947. There were some accounts of "Test Dummies" being recovered from a crashed "Weather Balloon" made of strange material.
The Diving BellKarl TuneSteller’s Sea Cow The Steller Sea Cows were about 20 ft (2.9 meters) long and weighed almost 4 tons (11,190 kilograms). It was related to the smaller Manatees and the Dugong, which live in tropical waters. The estimated 2000 Steller’s Sea Cows inhabited the shallow cold waters around the Kommandorskye and Blizhnie Islands in the Bering Sea. The isolation of these islands from humanity is probably why they were last found there. In recent history, they were reported by the German naturalist Georg Steller of the Russian ship “St. Peter” when they shipwrecked off the coast of Kamchatka in 1741. Spending the winter stranded on the island, the crew ate various animals on the island and liked the meat of the Steller’s Sea Cow most of all. Word quickly spread of the tasty sea cows. In the following years, whalers, seal hunters, and explorers all stopped at the islands to eat Steller’s Sea Cow. Approximately only one out of five cows harpooned or shot were ever recovered for food. Most of them died at sea, uneaten by the humans. In 1768, explorer Martin Sauer entered in his journal an account of the death of the last known Steller's Sea Cow. Only 27 years after the crew of the “St. Peter” first discovered these sea cows, the Steller's Sea Cow became extinct. 1, 2 Steller’s Sea Cows may not have been an exciting or beautiful animal, but its loss and the loss of multitudes of other creatures is permanent. Their unique properties and traits are lost forever. Zoos, once established to showcase animals to the public, now find themselves with the last survivors. Zoos have now become a source of animals for reintroduction back into the wild. Humanity is now the steward of planet Earth. We are now directly responsible for the survival or extinction of most species on our home turf. True, a number of mass extinctions have occurred over time, but in recent geological time, human activity rather than natural events are causing the current rash of extinctions. There are many factors in the current extinctions such as hunting, habitat loss, depleted resources, pollution, and introduction of non-native species. The expanding human population is having a global climate effect. Many world governments are now cooperating to save threatened and endangered species. But it is really up to individual decisions and actions. Do not be lost in the dilution of responsibility while depleting our common resources. There are many things you can do. You can invest time, effort, and money to directly improve the habitats of endangered species. There are also things you can do from your own home that have far reaching consequences. You can conserve, re-use, and recycle. You can buy “natural” or “green” products. You can also create a micro-habitat or way-station which encourages or aids endangered plants and animals. Perhaps you could make your own property more nature friendly by using less herbicides and pesticides. Joni Mitchell sings it best in her "Big Yellow Taxi" song: “Hey farmer farmer Put away that DDT now Give me spots on my apples But leave me the birds and the bees Please! Don't it always seem to go That you don't know what you've got Till it's gone They paved paradise And put up a parking lot” 3 When a species goes extinct, we are all to blame as the human race. If humanity saves and sustains what we have, we can all look our grandkids in the eye and tell them we preserved the inheritance of their planet. 1. The Men In Lateralus 2TheGuitarGuruI plan to eventually experiment with playing the tracks in the fibonacci order to see how it affects things...If you don't know what I'm referring to, check YouTube for a video titled "The Fibonacci in Lateralus." When the song Lateralus played during the synch, it reminded me very strongly of this video!
28 Days In The ComatoriumTheGuitarGuruThis one actually works pretty good, despite the fact that most of the lyrics on this album seem to make NO SENSE whatsoever...There are still a few interesting spots, particularly when the little girl's dad gets some infected blood in his eye, and the corresponding lyrics are something like, "clipside of the PINKEYE fountain." The part where the main character goes to check and see if his parents are still alive is pretty touching as well...He finds them dead, with a note in their hands, and the lyrics around this part are: Are they gone are they gone Stung the slang of a gallows bird Rationed a dead letter pure Err, something like that...Pretty good for my girlfriend's first try!!!
OK Rainbows 101okrainbows101Here's the deal. Some time ago some friends of mine got together to watch 'dark side of the rainbow'.(Floyd/Oz) Thing is the person who was supposed to bring 'Dark Side of the Moon' was a no show. So, They chose what "seemed" to be a random pick Radiohead's 'OK Computer'. I was turned on to this later and thought it was interesting. As I was watching I noticed that 'Ok Computer' cover art has Images from the movie right on the cover. So we start researching this theory. You can find our research at http://www.myspace.com/okoz.Originaly we thought that like Floyd at the end of the album you restarted it for the second half. There is even a chime at the end of "The Tourist" like a book on record which means to turn the page or flip the record. This worked with "The Tourist" starting as the credits started to roll. We were content with our research that was until the release of 'In Rainbows'. My first thought was could this be the second half. We gave it a month before We tried it and if you watch 15 steps sync you will see what We saw. This scene end exactly where it starts with the witch looking into her crystal ball which is filled w/ rainbows or ('In Rainbows'). I do not want to rob anyone of the experience I had watching this so I'm trying to point this out without spelling it out completely. What you need to know to try this is that this will only work with the 101 minute version of The Wizard of Oz. Which can only be found on "Video Tape". Surprise! http://www.myspace.com/okrainbows ....Ok Rainbows 101 was view [1010101] on 17.november2007
Hotel California Picture ShowKarl TuneKarl Tune welcomes you to the Hotel California Picture Show. A bizarre zone between light and dark. An area where the imagination subdues the rational. The ordinary becomes twisted and bruised in this misapplication of fantasy in the fast lane. The subconscious thoughts surface to reveal what the conscious mind would dare not conceive. Just be warned: In these awkward moments of desire, somebody is bound to get a broken heart and become the latest victim of love.

Great Backyard Bird CountKarl TuneThe Source The Great Backyard Bird Count has unveiled a new species of bird. Among the communal Floyd birds we have found a mimic bird with the same grey head and rainbow plumage but a different mating song altogether. It wasn’t until volunteer counters in dense woods discovered the modern oddity in its natural state. Normally, this Electric Rainbow Bird infiltrates the communal nest of the Floyd bird to receive protection from the elements and gain prime feeding grounds. The Great Backyard Bird Count is a free and fun way to take part in an on-going bird count every president’s day weekend (February 13-16) in North America. By February, the weather has driven the birds to desperation. After I refill my bird feeder, the feeder is covered with swarms of different birds before I can get back inside my house. I watch the birds from inside my warm apartment. The results can be e-mailed in. Birders can check everybody’s combined results on tailored maps for a period of years. Now the average citizen can help build a historical data base which scientists can make use of. Each year, there are some target objectives to better help ornithologists study bird behavior and ranges. I can think of nothing more relaxing or rewarding than bird watching. Here is the link to the web site http://www.birdsource.org/gbbc/toc_page.html Here is an example of my report last year: 06:00 – 06:29 AM Too cold, no birds. 06:30 – 06:59 AM Too much snow, no birds. 07:00 – 07:29 AM Great Wicked Witch Hawk sitting on feeder, no other birds. 07:30 – 07:59 AM Run out to community nest box I put next to feeder. I reach into the box and pull out the birds to count. The Floyd rainbow birds have wedged themselves in the nest box so I have to tear the whole thing apart. I am trying to find the rare ELO mimic bird living in the same box for protection. They have been flying all around, everyday except for today. I am going to count that ELO bird this year if it is the last thing I do. The ding-dong birds look too much alike, but fortunately I get a close look as I rip each bird out of the nest. The feisty birds cling to the sticks, squawking. Bird feathers are flying everywhere. Rainbow birds scatter, Hawk attacking, birdseed spraying everywhere. 08:00 – 08:29 AM Too cold, no birds.
The Hidden CrystalKarl TuneI forgot to mention that the Hidden Crystal deactivated all the birth control measures in the camp. These college kids were in for some BIG surprises in 9 months.
The Hidden SimultaneityKarl TuneI write this message on a parchment scroll and stuff it in a clay pot. The world I came from seems so far away and small. Will somebody ever find this note? Will it serve as a warning or a beckoning? I let the pot slide down a sand dune as I am swept away by the music... the music... the music of our souls....................................
10,000 Days and Nightmares Before ChristmasKarl TuneI had the dream again. I was at a Christmas party and I met this lovely lady. Her eyes were so pretty and her hair was in an attractive bun. She wore a nice shirt and shorts which showed off her feminine curves in a reserved way. At first we introduced ourselves. I said “Hi! I’m Karl.” And she replied “Hi! I’m Karen” as we smiled at each other with a gleam in our eyes. We talked. And talked some more. Our conversation was really good because we both had the same interests. We talked about how cool it was to start the Tool's "10.000 Days" music CD as soon as you hit "play" for the actual movie on Tim Burton's animation "The Nightmare Before Christmas". When a nice dance song started playing, Karen and I looked into each other’s eyes with excitement. I asked her if she would like to dance and she smiled “I’d love to dance with you!” We had so much fun dancing. When the song was over, she went to share her excitement with her friends and I went over and got us some beer from the keg. There was only one cup left and I offered it to Karen when we got back together. After drinking from the cup, she lifted the cup to my lips. We were drinking from the same cup. We were practically kissing. Then another really groovy dance song came on and we both went out on the dance floor. Some of the other dancing couples started interweaving their legs and rubing groins. Yes it was one of those Christmas Parties. And Karen mounted my leg. We took turns rubbing our groins on each other like all the other loving couples. We were so very enjoying this new dirty dance style. We were all smiles in our shared embarrassment and our new found intimacy. After the song was over, Karen went back to her friends to share in her excitement and I went to get us more to drink. That is when I was picked off my feet and carried out of the party. The people, I had come to the party with, shoved me in the car. To this day I do not know why I was carried off. Was it because Karen was a black woman and I was a white man. Or was it that the black people at the party were going to kick my ass for dancing with Karen. Or was it that the white people I was with, wanted to kick my ass for mingling with a Karen. The people I was with, carried me off and then hot tailed our car out of the parking lot. Karen ran out into the parking lot yelling “Karl! Where are you Karl?” I was in the car with tears in my eyes as we sped off. I hurt inside for letting myself be torn away. I still kick myself today. I never hung out again with the guys who carried me off. The dream makes me sad to this day. But the dream has a second part. About a week or two later, just before Christmas, I was at the park with a group of carollers. I had not shaved so I could make the meeting on time and my hair was messy because I had ridden my bicycle there on that windy day. After caroling, I had wandered off alone. That is when Karen rode up on her bicycle and dismounted were I stood. She was as beautiful as ever in her new red Addidis Sweats and there I was in my wrinkled old green Addidis Sweats. I excitedly exclaimed, “Hi Karen!” and she replied “Hi Karl.” and she kept walking. At this point I do not know what hurt more. The fact that I did not walk after her to catch up with her to talk with her and exchange phone numbers. Or the fact that she walked away. Who could blame her. There was no such thing as interracial dating back then and besides, I looked all skuzzy with my long uncombed hair, wrinkled old green Addidis sweats, and dusty shoes. Or maybe she was in a hurry to get some last minute Christmas Shopping done. Either way, I just stood there in a daze as I admired Karen in her red Addidis Sweats. She looked so good. So Christmas Season! When I realized I had missed my second and last opportunity to meet Karen, I felt like crying. I felt like crying a long time. My heart cries every time I have the dream. It is amazing how empty you can feel in a dream.
Dawn Side of the MoonKarl TuneI believe these three excerpts from "J. F. Kennedy’s Address at Rice University on the Nation's Space Effort Houston, Texas, USA, September 12, 1962" have much meaning. "Those who came before us made certain that this country rode the first waves of the industrial revolutions, the first waves of modern invention, and the first wave of nuclear power, and this generation does not intend to founder in the backwash of the coming age of space. We mean to be a part of it--we mean to lead it. For the eyes of the world now look into space, to the moon and to the planets beyond, and we have vowed that we shall not see it governed by a hostile flag of conquest, but by a banner of freedom and peace. We have vowed that we shall not see space filled with weapons of mass destruction, but with instruments of knowledge and understanding." "We choose to go to the moon. We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things, not only because they are easy, but because they are hard, because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one which we intend to win, and the others, too." "The growth of our science and education will be enriched by new knowledge of our universe and environment, by new techniques of learning and mapping and observation, by new tools and computers for industry, medicine, the home as well as the school. Technical institutions, such as Rice, will reap the harvest of these gains." The space program is one of the great marvels of our civilization. On July 20, 1969, humanity set foot on the moon because of the sharing of ideas and knowledge. We built on the knowledge and hard work of those who came before us. Take advantage of your education because you are the foundation of tomorrow’s civilization. It was a great honor to have Neil Armstrong speak at my graduation ceremony. He is very excited about our future. Sincerely, Karl Tune

The Ghostrider's IntoleranceTheGuitarGuruI still think the other synch is a bit better as far as movements sync'ed with the music, but this one gets better a little ways into it, and the lyrics all fit quite nicely.
