wizard people, dear readers

Synchronicity Discussion

Noticed Dark Side of Oz mentioned here...

From wikipedia: "wizard people, dear readers" is a narrative re-telling of the lives of the characters of The Sorcerer's Stone and the world in which they live. Presented in the form of an audio book, this soundtrack is intended to replace the film's audio track. Such an infusion of dissident subtext into a pop-culture phenomenon is in line with such works as The Dark Side of Oz...

Can't wait to try this!

movies with album names

Synchronicity Discussion

Here is a link to a forum topic on the Something Awful forums where people are using photoshop to change film names to album names. There is an "in rainbows" OZ poster, insomnia/amnesiac one, Jaws "with teeth", etc. Many of these are pretty clever. I relly like the Metropolis / electric ladyland poster. Thought some of you might get a laugh or two out of these, and possibly even inspiration for future synch recipes....

For the Dark Side of the Moon or the Pirates of the Caribbean fan

Synchronicity Discussion

Here's a tip to a DSotM album sync you can find for yourself.

Fairly early in the film: The Pirates of the Carribean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Elizabeth Swann is having trouble breathing as her corset is too tight. She passes out and drops into the water below off of a high cliff.

The director is leaving a tip to the Pink Floyd song Breathe.

The fall off the cliff to the water below will sync with

"For long you live and high you fly
But only if you ride the tide"

and obviously Elizabeth falling to the bottom of the water to:

"balance on the biggest wave you race towards an early grave"

The rest of the album sync you're on your own except for one thing. If you expect that the sync goes in the exact order of the album, you will likely be very disapponted ... with this and many other syncs. You need to pay attention to the lyrics and the action on the screen.

Enjoy!

What would it take to convince you that filmmakers and musicians often create intentional syncs?

Synchronicity Discussion

This thread is really intended for the person who doesn't believe that many filmmakers or musicians create syncs (intentionally). I'm interested in your perspective.

If I were to say that filmmakers/musicians often sync music/films when creating their movies/songs. What would you need as proof before you would agree?

Said another way, short of a musician or filmmaker admitting it publicly, what evidence would be necessary for you to change your opinion?

My synchs are online!

Well, to be exact, only one synch. But there will be more to come.

I await your feedback!

R.I.P. Arthur C. Clarke

Synchronicity Discussion

Arthur C. Clarke died in Sri Lanka at 1:30 this morning. I'm sure no one here needs to be reminded of just how important he was; he was a towering figure in the world of science as a writer of both fiction and nonfiction, and we will be lucky to see his kind again. I hope he's out cruising with Dave Bowman as we speak.

New NIN album Ghosts I-IV for free!

Synchronicity Discussion

Nine inch nails has released a new album of almost 2 hours of instrumental/ambient tracks for free download and licensed under the creative commons. I got mine from thepiratebay.org so as to not leach bandwidth. With it's length and style it would be prefect for synching. http://ghosts.nin.com/
