notifications
Submitted by looney runes on Mon, 2008-03-10 21:21. Site Issues/FeedbackI seem to be getting an unusual amount of email notifications concerning updated threads.
Though this has occurred from time to time in the past, I have gotten 3 in the last three days concerning threads that don't have any changes.
I suppose I could disable the email notifications and just subscribe to individual thread comments through google reader...
Any thoughts?
Why wont my Recipe Post
Submitted by gWiZ on Sat, 2008-03-08 07:18. Site Issues/FeedbackI tried posting a recipe but it didnt show up in the "synchronicities" section. The last one i did, The Stormship Trooper, Showed up right away. Is this some sort of error or are synchs being approved before they are posted?
RSS
Submitted by looney runes on Sat, 2008-02-16 20:45. Site Issues/FeedbackHow about adding an RSS link to the sidebar? I have the arkive in my google reader and it is a handy way to keep up with new topics of discussion if you just don't have the time to check in everyday. Some folks may be unaware there is a feed for the site.
New forum suggestion...
Submitted by looney runes on Thu, 2008-02-07 19:29. Site Issues/FeedbackSomething like this, at the top of the sidebar...
INTRODUCTION FORUM
This forum is for new members to post an introduction and tell us about yourself.
(Posting is not required.)
...could possibly encourage more communication and bring some lurkers out of the shadows.
I also feel that moving the FAQ section below this, and possibly including a 'please read before posting' note would be a smart move.

shoutbox
Submitted by looney runes on Mon, 2008-01-14 22:00. Site Issues/FeedbackI have to wonder if a shoutbox would be a good addition to the arkive. Sometimes I notice folks online and I have to wonder what they are up to.
Permissions changes
Submitted by arkiver on Thu, 2007-09-20 07:41. Site Issues/FeedbackFYI, I made some pretty extensive changes to the site permissions, in order to "fix" the whole unpublishing issue with spam filtering. I've actually turned off the spam filter, and instead granted rights to post without my approval to a subset of "trusted" users (i.e., if you've been an active participant for a while, you should be "trusted"). This, in theory, separates out those who have created accounts just to poke around from those who have been active in the community. If you think you aren't marked "trusted" and should be, please send me a private message via the site, or email me at arkiver@xnet.com.
For the non-trusted postings, I'll be doing an approval sweep periodically throughout the day (or as soon as I can get to it), but this should prevent valid posts from the active participants from being filtered as spam.
Just so we're all clear, just in case one of the trusted folks starts posting in ways that would qualify as spamming or trolling, I'll be doing one warning, followed by a loss of trusted status. That doesn't mean you will not be able to post, just that it will require approval, if you were to get yourself in that situation. I hope that will avoid any unpleasant issues, like we've had before...

Dark Side of the Rainbow Project
Submitted by arkiver on Mon, 2007-09-17 10:53. Site Issues/FeedbackSo, I was playing around with fonts and graphic programs, doing a little design, and it occurred to me, it'd be pretty nifty if Dark Side of the Rainbow had a widely used "logo" so to speak, or at least a standard-ish way of showing the name graphically. To that end, I thought I'd release what I came up with, Creative Commons-style. Free to be used commercially, free to be modified and remixed, just as long as you attribute it to the Arkive. Here are some pretty high quality graphic files, in a .zip file, of the logo... and what it looks like:

Black T-shirts
Submitted by arkiver on Sat, 2007-09-15 09:02. Site Issues/FeedbackJust figured I'd call some attention to it, since it is one of those things that helps support the Synchronicity Arkive...
I've made up a new t-shirt design, this one on CafePress' black tee, of the "new" Arkive logo (eye in TV). It's a pretty high quality image actually. The tee is pretty basic, just that logo (no text), on black. But I liked the design. I changed the Arkive CafePress store link, in Sponsors... but I figured it was worth calling out some more attention...

This is one of those things that helps support the site, and goes a long way towards me having more time to put into the site. I figured this is a bit better design than some of my earlier attempts with CafePress.

A Friendly Reminder....
Submitted by arkiver on Tue, 2007-08-07 19:02. Site Issues/FeedbackJust a public reminder, since there have been a few things hit lately that do not follow the rules....
Spam, trolling, flaming, and other deliberately negative behavior on this website will not be tolerated. The Synchronicity Arkive is devoted to the synching community, the discussion of synchronicity (audio-visual and otherwise), and other related topics (music, movies, etc.). Long, rambling posts that are intended solely to waste time are also not tolerated, although that does not mean length, by itself, is an issue.
Although I do not like to be the benevolent dictator, the fact is that this is my site and I'm tired of it being ruined by the kind of behavior described above. If you want to engage in that, go elsewhere.
For those not interested in that type of behavior, my apologies again, for having to remind everyone about it...

another podcast coming soon....
Submitted by arkiver on Mon, 2007-07-23 17:57. Site Issues/FeedbackSo, just for everyone's info, I should have another episode of Arkiving Synchronicity up later this week. This time, I interviewed Baker B, long time syncher and one of the driving forces behind the Film/Album Synchronicity Board (in its day) and Shared Fantasia. This is another computer-assisted podcast, in that Baker's part is read by a computer-generated voice, this time with a British accent. At least, the voice is UK English.
It makes for some interesting listening... I still have a little bit of recording to do on my pieces, but it should be up and online for everyone's listening/reading pleasure later this week.
I hope to line up some further folks for these as well... so be warned, you may be hearing from me soon.
